Clinical Experience
Private Practice: Dr. Laurie provides therapy for children through young adults with anxiety, depression, stress and coping with medical problems, school, divorce, and loss. She has extensive experience in providing intervention for the children and their families. She sees adults on the Autism Spectrum and their partners. Dr. Laurie also offers consultation and support services for parents dealing with parental stress. Founder and Director of The Friends Program (1992-2024): A therapeutic group program for young children on the Autism Spectrum and their parents. |
Teaching Experience
Adjunct Lecturer
Dr. Laurie is an instructor for courses on Infancy and The Preschool Child at Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. She has taught numerous classes at Stanford and has spoken at conferences on long-term effects of premature birth and childhood cancer, and on the impact of neurodiversity on the child's family and larger social system. In addition, she has conducted several training seminars, working with high-functioning adults on the Autism Spectrum and has taught the first call at Stanford for the Adult Psychiatry residents on this subject.
